Nestled in the very heart of the Roaring Fork Valley, Shadowrock offers convenient access to all of the cultural and sporting opportunities that define life in this thriving year-round mountain community.
Just across the street is Willits Town Center. Here you will find Whole Foods Market, Valley View Medical Center and a number of great shops and restaurants.
Shadowrock is an easy twenty five minute drive from downtown Aspen and our four world class ski mountains. Historic downtown Basalt is located just five minutes up the road and the hip and happening Town of Carbondale is ten minutes down valley.
Want to leave the car at home? No problem. Take advantage of VelociRFTA, the first rural bus rapid transit system in the country. The state-of-the-art buses are equipped with wi-fi and operate the length of the valley from early morning until late-night. With VelociRFTA, you can avoid parking headaches at the slopes or enjoy a night out on the town without worry.
Always the geographical center of the Roaring Fork Valley, Willits Town Center has grown into the vibrant and thriving heart of the valley. Anchored by Whole Foods Market, Willits is home to a variety of unique shops and restaurants. Also at Willits Town Center is a medical facility operated by Valley View Hospital and a boutique hotel under Element Hotels brand operated by Starwood.
The long awaited Whole Foods Market opened at Willits Town Center in August 2012 to much fanfare. It has quickly become a centerpiece of the mid-valley – it is always hopping and has become a popular place to meet up with friends for lunch or a cup of coffee.
But for the Roaring Fork Valley, Whole Foods represents more than just organic produce, grass fed beef and a killer salad bar. The opening of Whole Foods brought over 100 jobs to the mid-valley. It’s success has resulted in significant increases in sales tax revenues and attracted a number of other retailers, restaurants and businesses to a now thriving Willits Town Center.
Crown Mountain Park is a favorite among the mid-valley’s four legged and two-legged residents alike. Surrounded by a paved walking path (which is cleared of snow in the winter) are soccer fields and baseball diamonds. Additional amenities include tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, children’s playground and climbing wall, a fenced dog park and a BMX track.
The concrete main trail is exactly one mile long so you can easily gauge how far you have walked whether it’s a brisk walk at lunchtime or a leisurely stroll with the dogs in the evening. Dogs are allowed off leash so long as they are under voice control. You can also venture off road onto dirt trails that lead down to the Roaring Fork River.
